On September 27-28th, 2018, the 24th ICT Forum was held in Miedzeszyn under the slogan “The information system of the state and the citizen.” The forum addresses the most current topics related to the effective use of broadly understood ICT in state management, including the improvement of services provided to citizens by public administration.

In 2018, Polish official statistics ranked 4th in the world and among Eastern European countries (Belarus, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Ukraine, Slovakia) in the prestigious Open Data Inventory (ODIN) ranking, which assesses the scope and openness of data on the websites of national statistical offices.

We are pleased to announce that Statistics Poland team consisting of Paulina Małek, Michał Bis (both representing the Statistical Office in Szczecin) and Jacek Maślankowski (Statistical Office in Gdańsk) proved to be the best and won the Big Data Hackathon. The event, organized by the European Commission (Eurostat), aimed to select the best application projects using Big Data.

From July 15th to 20th, Tokyo hosted the International Cartographic Conference and Exhibition, where 30 countries presented 385 products released since 2017. A competition for the best publications/products was held during the exhibition. The competition jury, appointed by the International Cartographic Association, awarded Statistics Poland third prize in the educational cartographic products category for its textbook entitled

On September 12th, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Public Procurement Office, a gala ceremony was organized at the The Warsaw Philharmonic - The National Orchestra and Choir of Poland, during which LUX CLARA IN CONTRACTIS PUBLICIS awards were presented. The awards were granted in three categories: Orderer, Contractor, and Persons meritorious for the public procurement system.

On September 17-18, the 42nd National Cartographic Conference was held in Krakow, during which the 19th edition of the “Map of the Year” competition, organized by the Association of Polish Cartographers (SKP), was decided. The Chief Surveyor of Poland was the honorary patron of the competition.

The Regional Leadership Award for Practice and Policy is awarded annually by the Regional Studies Association to individuals or organizations in recognition of their achievements in solving practical problems of regional planning and management.

On September 23-24th, 2021, the 27th ICT Forum was held under the slogan “Digital Transformation in the National Recovery Plan.” It is the oldest (organized since 1995) and currently the largest IT conference for the public sector.

During a video conference on November 12th, President of Statistics Poland Dr. Dominik Rozkrut received the Regional Leadership Award for Practice and Policy, which was presented on behalf of the Regional Studies Association Board by Ms. Olga Mrinska.

During the 29th ICT Forum “State Information System – Development Dilemmas,” Dr. Dominik Rozkrut, President of Statistics Poland, received the “Golden Herald” award. The award was granted in recognition of his achievements in building a modern state based on the widespread use of ICT. It is an expression of appreciation for strengthening the importance of IT investments that improve the functioning of the state.
